Add a glitter layer to your design
It's quite easy to make your own glitter stickers!
You don’t have to add a glitter layer to your design, but it can help you visualize the final look of your stickers or labels much better. Here’s how to do it:
- Find a glitter background: For a simple visual, any glitter pattern will do. But for a more accurate result, use a glitter image similar to the material your design will be printed on. You can find our glitter pattern in Graphic.
- Open Adobe Illustrator with your design and add the glitter image via File > Place and select your image.
- Embed the glitter image by clicking Embed while the image is selected.
- Make a specific area sparkle by cutting the glitter image (Ctrl + X or Cmd + X). Double-click the target area. Go to Object > Compound Path > Release.
- Place the glitter background over the target area and send it to the back via Object > Arrange > Send to Back.
- Select the area you want to sparkle. Click Object > Compound Path > Make to hide the glitter in a clipping mask.
- Apply the clipping mask with Object > Clipping Mask > Make. The glitter background is now locked into your design.
Use white layers to control the glitter effect
White layers are design tools used to represent white ink.
White ink is key to controlling the glitter effect. It lets you adjust how intense the sparkle looks and keeps your design from becoming overwhelming.
When we print white ink on your design, it mutes the glitter effect. You can use this to create opaque, vibrant colors.
When applied correctly, white layers help strike a balance — making your design eye-catching without overdoing it.
Opt for solid colors and a bold font
When working with a busy texture like glitter, it’s important to choose colors and fonts that stand out. Bright, bold colors and strong fonts will make your design pop against the sparkly background.
This helps your message stay visible even with all the shine. So if you want a glitter design that grabs attention, go for solid colors and a bold font!
