The most famous stickers of all time
Every sticker has a story. Some even become ingrained in our hearts and minds as cultural symbols or reminders of childhood.
In this blog post, we’ll not only highlight four of the most famous and well-known printed stickers, but also shed light on the stories behind them.
There are obviously many more stickers that could be included in this list, if your favorite one is missing, be sure to let us know!
1. "I voted" sticker
The first thing that comes to mind when you think about stickers is probably not politics. However, this sticker has earned a firm place in the political consciousness of many US voters.
Its origin is a bit mysterious, but it’s often traced back to the 1980s. A Miami newspaper mentioned it in 1982, reporting on shop owners who offered discounts to people wearing the sticker.
Janet Boudreau, who redesigned the sticker five years later, spoke about the sticker’s power to remind people to vote. "I voted" stickers recreate the feeling of a community of voters, pretty powerful for such a simple sticker!

2. Santa Cruz’s Screaming Hand
If you're a skater or interested in skate culture, you're probably very familiar with this legendary sticker.
Created by Jim Phillips in 1985, it has become one of the most timeless designs. Santa Cruz describes it as “The Scream, Edvard Munch’s famous expressionist painting, for the skateboarding community” (Source).

Phillips’ own hand inspired the idea. As an artist, he uses his hands to create and express himself. A screaming hand amplifies the power of artistic expression and has come to represent an entire subculture
3. Chiquita Sticker

When you're asked to name a banana brand, chances are Chiquita is the first (and maybe only) one that comes to mind. That’s the power of stickers.
The US-based company was the first to brand a banana back in 1963. Today, both its name and brand colors are recognized around the world and instantly associated with bananas.
The company continues to celebrate its stickers by running limited edition campaigns and design contests, a gift that keeps on giving.
4. "Hello my name is" sticker
This is probably one of the most well-known stickers of all time. Created in 1959 by C-Line Products, it quickly became a standard part of conventions and events.
It’s brilliant in its simplicity, and the white space has been repurposed through pop culture. Graffiti and street art culture especially played a huge role in turning this sticker into an icon. It was, and still is, mainly used as a tagging symbol, often to mark or challenge other artists’ territory.
Because of this, the "Hello my name is" sticker has reached far beyond formally organized events.

You probably recognized most of these stickers. Isn’t it amazing how a small piece of paper or vinyl can have such a big impact? Don’t underestimate the power of stickers, use them to work for you!
