How are waterproof stickers made
Waterproof stickers are made by printing onto durable vinyl using fade-resistant inks, then applying a clear laminate that blocks moisture, UV light, and surface damage.
You can make waterproof stickers at home, too. You can use printable vinyl and laminate sheets, and you can just use a Cricut. However, for strong, professional results, printing with a vinyl sticker service is your best bet.
Waterproof vs water resistant
You might’ve seen some stickers marked as “water-resistant.” But does that really mean they can handle water?
Not exactly. Water-resistant stickers can survive a few drops or light splashes, but they’re not made for serious exposure. One run through the dishwasher or a few days outside, and they often start to peel, smudge, or fade.
For waterproof stickers, they’re easy to clean too. If you get oil or dirt on them, just wipe it off. That’s how sturdy the vinyl is.

How to apply waterproof stickers
Even waterproof stickers need a little help to stick their best. Make sure the surface is clean, dry, and free of dust or oil before applying. Press down evenly so the sticker bonds well. A smooth surface helps it stay put longer; it’s not just about the material.
