FAQs

What file formats can I use?

Upload a JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 50 MB. You can download your upscaled image as a PNG, JPG or WebP - choose which before you upscale. PNG is the safest choice for artwork, logos and anything with a transparent background; JPG keeps photo file sizes down.

How do I use it?

Upload your image - drop it on the box above, or click to browse.

Choose how much bigger you want it (x2, x4, x6 or x8), then pick your output format. If a multiplier is greyed out, your image is already too large for it — pick a smaller one.

Press Upscale and give it 10–30 seconds. The sharper version appears on the canvas when it's ready.

Click Download (top right) to save the full-size file. Tick "Email me a copy" first if you'd like it sent to your inbox as well.

How much should I scale my image?

As little as you need to. The less you enlarge an image, the more genuine detail survives - so start low, and only go higher if the result isn't big enough.

There's a limit on how large your starting image can be, and it gets tighter the higher you go: x2 needs an image under 2000px on its longest side, x4 under 1024px, x6 under 800px, and x8 under 600px.

Why the limits?

Because the finished image is capped at 4800px on its longest side - roughly A3 at full print quality. Past that, upscaling stops adding useful detail and just makes the file heavier.

Can I save my designs?

Not yet - upscaled images aren't saved to your account.

Download your file once it's ready and keep a copy. We're working on saving upscales to your account area alongside your other designs.

How do credits work?

You get 10 free downloads a month. Upscaling itself is free and unlimited - a credit is only used when you download a finished file, so you can try a few multipliers and only spend one on the version you keep.

Those 10 downloads are shared across all our free tools - the upscaler, vectoriser, cutline generator and background remover all draw from the same pot.

Your allowance resets at the start of each month. You can't buy extra credits at the moment, but we're working on it.

Can I print my designs?

Yes - that's rather the point. Once you've downloaded your upscaled file, we can print it as a sticker, label, magnet or badge on any of our materials. Upscaling first is a good way to rescue artwork that would otherwise print blurry.

Why does my upscaled image still look soft?

Upscaling adds pixels by predicting what should be there — it can't recover detail that was never captured. Images with sharp edges and little noise come out best; heavily compressed files, screenshots of screenshots and very small logos will improve but won't match a true high-resolution original. If a result disappoints, try a lower multiplier - x2 of a clean image beats x8 of a messy one every time.

Is it really free?

Yes. Ten downloads every month, no card, no subscription. You sign in with your email address so we can keep track of your allowance - that's the only reason we ask for it.

We make our money printing stickers, not selling software. The tools are free, and we rather hope you'll think of us when you've got something to print.

What's the largest image I can upload?

Files up to 50 MB. There's a separate limit on dimensions that depends on your chosen multiplier - see "How much should I scale my image?" above - and the finished image is capped at 4800px on its longest side, which is about A3 at full print quality.
