What makes custom stickers and labels high quality?

So what does “good quality” really mean when it comes to stickers and labels? If you’re a first-time buyer, it’s not always obvious. That’s why we’ve put together a checklist to help you know what to look for when your stickers or labels arrive.

Material selection

Great stickers start with the ]. The best one for you depends on how you’re going to use your stickers or labels.

That said, a professional sticker printer should meet some basic standards. These usually relate to durability, thickness, and overall appearance. You can get a feel for how a sticker looks from product photos and detailed content like which stickers and labels are waterproof.

And when it comes to durability, the best way to judge is by ordering samples. Any good printer should offer them.

Adhesive strength

Let’s be real, a sticker that doesn’t stick isn’t much use. A quality printer will give you different adhesive options and clearly explain what each one is best for.

You can check out this guide to adhesive strengths. If you're not sure what to choose, go with a permanent adhesive. It works on most surfaces and doesn’t leave damage behind. That’s the standard option for most of our products, except for things like heavy-duty or static cling materials.

Print quality

Print quality is a big deal. It’s what makes your design look crisp, colorful, and professional.

That’s why we’ve invested in what’s considered the best digital printer out there. And we mean that — this $750,000 machine delivers seriously sharp results. Once you see the difference, you won’t want to go back.

Cutting equipment

You’ve probably come across terms like die cut, kiss cut, or sticker sheets. These all refer to how your stickers are cut.

Die cut stickers are trimmed all the way through the backing paper, while kiss cut stickers and sticker sheets keep the backing intact.

These shapes can be super precise — not something you can do with scissors. We use digital and laser cutting tools to get it just right. When your order arrives, check that:

  • There’s no weird white border around your design
  • The cut edges are clean
  • The stickers are easy to peel off the backing

Smooth lamination

Want that premium glossy look or extra protection? Go for lamination.

We apply laminate to most of our stickers and labels by default unless you request otherwise. The only exception is biodegradable paper, which has a naturally matte finish that looks great on its own.

Lamination protects your stickers and makes them more durable. But here’s the thing, if the workspace isn’t clean, dust or air bubbles can get trapped under the surface.

That’s why we have internal quality checks in place. Still, if you ever get a sticker that’s not up to standard, just let us know and we’ll make it right.

What to look for when ordering stickers and labels online

When you’re ordering stickers online, it can be hard to judge quality, you can’t touch the product beforehand. But there are some signs of a reliable printer that you can look for right on their website.

Advice and expertise

A trustworthy printing company should make things easy. Their site should answer common questions and guide you through materials, usage, uploading artwork, and more.

They should also be experts in design, not just printing.

If anything’s unclear, reach out to their support team. A fast and helpful reply tells you a lot about the kind of service you’ll get.

Free, unlimited design proofs

Only order from a company that offers digital proofs. A design proof shows you what your sticker or label will look like before it’s printed.

You’ll usually get this within a day of ordering, and it should be free.

Proofs let you suggest changes and make sure everything’s just right before anything goes to print. You’ll see updates after each revision, and nothing should get printed until you approve it.

Transparent lead times

Even the best stickers aren’t useful if they show up late.

Custom products take a little time to make, and that’s normal. But the turnaround time should be clearly stated before you order.

As a general rule, a one-week turnaround is considered fast. Up to 10 business days is pretty standard.

Just make sure to factor in shipping so you get your order when you need it.

Reviews

And of course, reviews. These are from customers just like you who’ve already gone through the ordering process.

Were they happy with the results? If not, does the company respond professionally to feedback?

It’s not just about how many reviews there are. What matters most is whether the business listens, learns, and solves problems when they arise.
